Father Damien's Canonization Activities
Blessed Damien will be canonized on Sunday October 11, 2009 at the Vatican in Rome, Italy. At that time our Holy Father will entrust to Bishop Larry Silva, the Bishop of Honolulu, a relic of Father Damien's right foot for a Damien Shrine at Our Lady of Peace, Cathedral, Honolulu. A pilgrimage to Belgium and Rome is scheduled. Before, during and following the canonization there will be a series of Damien celebrations on the mainland and in Hawaii, and on Molokai. Saturday November 7, 2009 Damien Parish Country Fair
This event will be held at the Mitchell Pauole Center in Kaunakakai, Molokai, and will include a Country Store, Baked Goods, Auction and delicious food.
